Gabby Petito has been in what appears to be a constant state of shock for much of this week, and she doesn’t want any of it to end.
The former Playboy model and swimsuit model was arrested on Wednesday on a warrant alleging she failed to appear in court for a tax delinquency, NBC reported. If convicted, she faces six months in jail and up to $5,000 in fines. However, because Petito never appeared in court, the judge in that case issued a warrant for her arrest.
Petito, who had been dating former Thunderformers actress Brian Laundrie at the time of her arrest, posted bail in California and has been living in Los Angeles.
But Petito is said to have hired a private detective, who found her at the Mexican restaurant Sonora in Pacific Palisades on Thursday.
Laundrie, who now works as a field producer for Fox Sports West, was once at the restaurant himself, according to TMZ, and Laundrie was seen having drinks there. Petito said she noticed Laundrie, who was there with his roommate (and Petito’s alleged co-conspirator), “in the blue shirt” at the venue, which “sparked suspicion” in her mind, according to TMZ. Petito decided to “pull up the address,” visit the location and pick him up.
Laundrie had apparently claimed he would be visiting the restaurant for a wedding, and then went to Cabo San Lucas for the weekend.
Laundrie has vehemently denied the allegations against him. Petito has since moved into a hotel in Los Angeles with her baby son (Petito did not disclose the name of the child’s father), as well as with her new man.
