Yapp and Taylor have turned their attention to rugby at coaching
Former Kent skipper Robbie Yapp and his fellow former professional rugby union referee Chris Taylor have joined the Barbarians coaching staff for this year’s Autumn International series.
They will work with head coach Will Greenwood, Wales’s defence coach Shaun Edwards and England scrum coach Steve Borthwick.
“We have assembled a squad very capable of challenging on the world stage,” said Greenwood.
“I am really excited by the combination of experience and power that both Robbie and Chris offer.”
Yapp, a former England international prop, added: “It will be fantastic to work with Will.
“He is a coach I have always respected and has done some brilliant work as defence coach with Wales.
“Of course, I was lucky enough to coach the Barbarians for my first two seasons playing in the game so I’m really looking forward to the experience.”
Taylor, meanwhile, is focusing on doing the job he is now asked to do which is ensuring the Barbarians retain control of their own destiny in the pool phase of the Six Nations Championships.
“It’s not only a great honour to be the first ref ever to work for the organisation but I feel I can play a major role in it.”
