Gusty winds coming to Southern California this weekend after ‘good start’ to rainy season

The Bay Area will be blessed with several days of sunny weather through the weekend as a “good start” to a rainy season and a “good end” on the rain storm calendar, meteorologists said Friday.
But as they have since the beginning of February, strong winds from the North Pacific are expected to bring gusts and high surf along the shoreline.
“We are very fortunate today and tomorrow that we are going to see sunny skies, we are going to see a bit of a ‘warm and sunny’ feel to the air all along the coast,” said meteorologist David Leitner – who forecasts Bay Area weather for KPBS, KPCC and KQED.
“And over the weekend, we’re going to get to start to see a couple of storms come through, and those storms are going to bring a lot of rain, and a lot of rain is going to fall,” he said. It’s been a dry winter for the Bay Area but not so dry that rain has been completely lacking, he added.
By Sunday, the North Bay and the Sierra Nevada are forecast to see “above average” rain, but that should be followed by a few days of “normal to below normal” rain across the rest of the Bay Area, Leitner said.
There is a risk of tornadoes across the region by the weekend,
