CNN Contributor Dr. Drew Pinsky posted video of a number of scenes from the station on his Instagram page.
At least three were killed and 50 were injured in a train derailment in west Montana, police told CNN on Thursday.
“We are still working to establish how many are hurt or dead,” said Chief Scott Pickle of Laurel, Montana.
Leo Poulin, a spokesman for the Montana Department of Public Safety, told CNN six carriages derailed around 5 p.m. local time as the Empire Builder train headed eastbound from Seattle to Chicago. Poulin said five bodies had been recovered from one of the derailed train cars and another body was located in another.
The national rail service confirmed it had a fatality and at least five people injured in the derailment.
“The train was coming through [the region] at a normal speed at 5:42 p.m. when there was an event. We still have a lot of work to do on the scene,” Poulin said.
Pickle confirmed that one of the cars was a second-class sleeper and passengers were sleeping when the train was derailed.
