Refused to buy a DiGiorno Pizza and Nestlé is recalling it due to an undeclared soy allergen

Please eat at your own risk. Nestlé has issued a nationwide recall for its DiGiorno Pizza brand of pepperoni products due to an undeclared soy allergen. Although certain DiGiorno Pepperoni Pizza packages have the symbol on the pack, this product does not have the soy ingredient or ingredient package number on the pepperoni toppings. The product did have the ingredients and product number on the pizza crust, however.

The product affected by the recall is sold only through participating Nestlé authorized retailers (up to a limit of two per person) and involves the SKU #01724447500016 with a best by date of Dec 20, 2018 and a per-piece retail value of $5. In addition, one of the SKUs that contains the allergens has the date range from “FY 2020” to “CURRENT” on the inside of the package. The allergen identifiers “Soy/Bracken PEPPERoni CheesySticks & Pepperoni Sticks” are located to the left of the “meat” symbol and the third “PEPPERoni Cheesy Sticks” is pictured below. The second product is a percentage 1 Cheese in a Tomato Sauce.

This recall is not being initiated because there are any reports of illness from consuming the products. Consumers with questions regarding the recall should contact Nestlé Consumer Services toll-free at 1-800-962-1413.
